Sodium-ion batteries are about to revolutionise energy storage

Hello again. Today I come with some news that may seem technical but that is actually going to affect everyone: sodium-ion batteries are finally arriving in electric cars and the power grid.

Why is it so important? Well, because lithium, that material we use in practically all of our current batteries, is expensive, scarce and its extraction has a considerable environmental impact. Sodium, on the other hand, is abundant, cheap and much safer. We are talking about an alternative that could make electric cars more affordable and make renewable energy storage much more economically viable.

For years we have heard about this technology as something from the future, but right now there are already manufacturers who are starting to integrate them into their products. It is one of those moments when theory becomes reality and we can start to see the tangible benefits. The energy transition needs solutions like this one, and it seems that they are finally arriving.

Stay tuned because this is going to give a lot to talk about in the coming months.
