Google gets into your life (with permission) to make your life easier

Can you imagine your Google search engine knowing exactly what you need before you finish typing it? Well, stop imagining, because it’s already here. Google has decided to go one step further with its AI Mode, integrating a feature called Personal Intelligence that promises to revolutionize the way we interact with technology. The idea is simple: allow Google’s assistant to analyze the information in your Gmail and Google Photos to give you fully personalized answers and recommendations.

For now, this marvel is available to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the United States, but it’s only a matter of time before it reaches our shores. The most interesting thing is that you have total control. If the idea of Google poking around in your emails and photos gives you the creeps, you can disable the feature at any time. But if you decide to give it a chance, get ready for an assistant that knows you better than your own mother.

How does this magic work?

The system feeds on your data in Gmail, Photos, your search history and even what you watch on YouTube to build a profile of your tastes and needs. For example, if you have a hotel booking in your email for a trip to Rome, AI Mode won’t just remind you of it, but will organize a complete itinerary for you. It will analyze your photos from previous trips and, if it sees you love ice cream, it will suggest the best gelaterias near your hotel. No more generic searches; now everything is hyperpersonalized.

But it doesn’t stop at travel. Going shopping? The assistant can suggest clothes based on your purchase history and favorite brands. If you have a flight to a cold city, it will recommend suitable coats. It’s like having a personal stylist who is also your travel agent and event organizer. You can even ask it to design a treasure hunt for your anniversary with your partner, using clues based on your history together. The possibilities are endless.

Privacy, that big question

Google insists that privacy is a priority. The company assures that the artificial intelligence is not trained with the content of your emails or photos, but only uses that information to respond to your requests. Furthermore, as we said, access to your data is completely optional and reversible. For now, this feature is only available for personal accounts, leaving out business or educational ones.

This new functionality is being tested through Google Labs, the company’s program for experimenting with its latest innovations in artificial intelligence. The ultimate goal is to offer you search results and recommendations that are truly useful and contextual, fitting you like a glove, but without sacrificing your privacy. Will you give it a chance?
