Google confirms Made by Google 2026: the Pixel 11 is unveiled on 12 August in New York
Google has officially confirmed the date of its big hardware event: Made by Google 2026 will be held on Wednesday 12 August in New York, and everything points to the long-awaited Pixel 11 being the absolute star. The invitation, already circulating from Google’s own store, shows the profile of a phone with a gold metal frame and the characteristic horizontal camera bar. The presentation will begin at 6:00 pm US Eastern time and, as usual, can be followed live through Google’s official channel on YouTube.
The chosen date is no coincidence: Google brings its event forward one week compared to the Pixel 10 presentation, held on 20 August 2025. This move is interpreted as a strategic play to get ahead of the competitors’ launches scheduled for the same month.
A family of four models
According to the leaks that have been piling up over recent weeks, Google would maintain the structure of its previous generation with four phones: Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The base model would feature thinner bezels, flat sides and a continuous design that preserves the line’s visual identity. The foldable, for its part, would arrive with a thinner body and a redesigned camera module compared to its predecessor.
Tensor G6: the most ambitious internal renewal in years
The big star under the hood would be the Google Tensor G6 processor, successor to the Tensor G5 that powers the Pixel 10 family. The leaks describe a seven-core CPU based on the new ARM C1 cores, with a main C1 Ultra core that could reach 4.11 GHz. The graphics side would be handled by an Imagination Technologies GPU, and it would also incorporate a renewed image processor and the Titan M3 security coprocessor, successor to the Titan M2.
One of the most significant changes would be the adoption of the MediaTek M90 modem, leaving behind the Samsung Exynos-derived modems used in previous generations. This decision could translate into better energy efficiency and more stable mobile connectivity. In addition, the Tensor G6 would be manufactured by TSMC on a 2-nanometre process, a technology that allows integrating more components in less space and reducing consumption, two of the Pixel line’s historic outstanding homework items.
M16 OLED screen and Android 17 from day one
The Pixel 11 would arrive with a 6.3-inch OLED screen made by Samsung with M16 technology, the same panels expected in the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Samsung would produce around 50 million units in the second half of the year, with greater brightness, better colour reproduction and lower energy consumption. Combined with the Tensor G6, this advance would point to a real improvement in battery life without needing to thicken the battery.
On the software side, the phone would be presented with Android 17 preinstalled from day one. The new version of the system would integrate artificial intelligence advances into everyday functions such as the camera, notification management and real-time audio transcription, consolidating the Pixel’s role within the Android ecosystem.
50-megapixel cameras and the mysterious Pixel Glow
In the photography department, always the big draw of the range, the base model would make the leap to a main sensor of approximately 50 megapixels. The Pro versions would receive improvements in both the main camera and the telephoto. The professional models could also abandon the temperature sensor included in previous generations to make way for the so-called Pixel Glow, a light indicator integrated around the flash or inside the camera module that would show notifications and visual alerts linked to artificial intelligence functions, in a similar vein to the Glyph of Nothing phones. Its final operation remains a mystery until the event.
The memory crisis also takes its toll
The component shortage caused by the strong demand for AI chips is also felt in this generation. The leaks point out that the base model would have 8 and 12 GB RAM options, while the Pixel 11 Pro Fold could reduce its memory from 16 to 12 GB in some markets. As for prices, the base Pixel 11 would move between 799 and 849 dollars, the Pro would hover around 999 dollars, the Pro XL could reach up to 1,299 dollars and the Fold would start at around 1,799 dollars, according to different sources.
A must-attend event for phone lovers
With the event less than a week away, 12 August is shaping up as a date marked in red on the tech calendar. Google has shown that the Pixel is its big hardware bet, and this generation promises to be one of the most ambitious internal renewals in the line’s history: a new 2-nanometre processor, a MediaTek modem, latest-generation screens and a deeper artificial intelligence integration than ever. Although the leaks have already revealed a large part of the story, there’s always that margin of surprise that only the event itself can confirm.
