Anthropic has launched Claude Tag, a new feature that turns its artificial intelligence into one more member of the team inside Slack. The novelty, presented this week, completely replaces the old Claude app for Slack and promises to change the way teams work with AI.
The main difference with traditional chatbots is that Claude Tag is not a bot you ask something and it forgets. It is a persistent agent that lives inside Slack channels, learns from conversations and accumulates context over time. To invoke it, team members just have to type @Claude in any channel and ask it for what they need.
A teammate with memory
What really sets Claude Tag apart from other AI assistants in Slack is its persistent memory. The agent remembers previous conversations, the team’s architecture decisions, coding conventions and the sprint status. It’s like having a teammate who has been on the project for a month and already knows how things work.
Furthermore, Claude Tag can learn continuously. The more the team interacts with it, the better it understands the project’s dynamics.
Autonomous tasks and active supervision
Claude Tag doesn’t limit itself to answering questions. It can proactively monitor channels, detect problems before they escalate and run scheduled tasks autonomously. A development team could ask it to automatically review pull requests for vulnerabilities or generate weekly status reports without human intervention.
Available for companies
For now, Claude Tag is available in preview for Anthropic’s enterprise customers. The company hasn’t revealed when it will be available to all Slack users, but the response from the first teams has been very positive.
With this launch, Anthropic is getting ahead of competitors like OpenAI and Google in the race to integrate persistent AI assistants into business communication tools.
