_# Apple jumps on the AI ‘pins’ trend, will it achieve what others couldn’t?_
In the dizzying world of artificial intelligence, it seems everyone wants their slice of the pie. The latest to join the party is, none other than, Apple. According to the latest leaks, the Apple company would be working on a new wearable device: an AI-powered pin that promises to be as small as an AirTag but far more powerful.
The idea isn’t entirely new. We’ve already seen similar attempts, like Humane’s AI Pin (created, ironically, by former Apple employees), which never quite took off in the market. But of course, if anyone can turn a failed idea into a mass-market success, it’s Apple. The device would feature a compact and elegant design, true to the brand, with two cameras, three microphones and a built-in speaker. All so that a new and improved Siri can see, hear and understand the world around you to help you in ways we can’t even imagine right now.
An assistant that dresses and accompanies you
This pin wouldn’t need to be connected to an iPhone to work. It would be a fully autonomous assistant, capable of analyzing images, answering questions and executing voice commands. Imagine walking down the street, the pin spots a restaurant and tells you if they have a free table or which dish it recommends based on your tastes. Or that it helps you choose what to wear in the morning by analyzing the weather outside.
The project, however, is still in its infancy. It’s rumored it could see the light of day in 2027, but there are still many doubts in the air. For example, it’s not clear how it would attach to clothing (a magnet? a clip?) nor whether it will be a standalone product or an accessory for future augmented reality glasses. The big challenge for Apple will be to prove that this device really adds something new and isn’t just a tech gimmick.
And for dessert, a HomePod with a robotic arm
But that’s not all. It seems Apple also has in the works a HomePod with a robotic base and a screen, a sort of iPad with an arm that could rotate 360 degrees to follow you around the room during a video call. This device does seem to be more advanced and could arrive by mid-2026.
It’s clear Apple doesn’t want to fall behind in the artificial intelligence race. The question is: will it manage to make these new devices essential in our daily lives, or will they end up in the drawer of curious inventions? Only time will tell.
