Google, Microsoft and Amazon have announced that Rust is now their preferred language for new systems projects, and the Linux kernel has incorporated Rust as its second official language. The adoption is accelerating due to growing security demands: memory bugs remain the cause of 70% of critical vulnerabilities in software written in C and C++, and Rust eliminates this class of errors natively.
