The leading chip manufacturers have unveiled their new generations of ARM processors for data centers, with improvements that promise to double energy efficiency compared to the previous generation. These chips are designed specifically for AI and cloud computing workloads, where power consumption has become the main cost factor.
Amazon Web Services has already announced that its new Graviton5 instances will use these processors, and Google has confirmed that its next generation of TPUs will also be based on the ARM architecture. It is estimated that the mass adoption of these chips could cut the global energy consumption of data centers by up to 15% by 2028.
